Here is an excerpt from my essay:

‘Girl he is going to take me to lunch Friday so I will let you know how it goes.”

“I told him how great of a woman and mom you are, he knows you are the bomb so he better treat you like a queen.”

Always when Pamela’s cousin and I would go out on a date she would ironically call him or me with an issue. The phone calls would last more than thirty minutes. The conversation is filled with hate and negativity. One call to me she was telling me about another one of her ex-friends, her cousin slept with. I’m thinking why you are telling me this while I am with him on a date. She loved confusion and gossip. Her cousin always said to be there for her more. A lot of people just turn their backs on her. I’m like does he not see what I see but that’s his family so they will ride for each other regardless I’m just a friend, an outsider. Blood is thicker than water as they say.
